There is no question that the automotive industry is in great transformation. The industry has never seen so many changes across all areas, such as product (green cars), process (smart factories), and business model (mobility and sharing economy). What the changes bring about depend on the responses to the changes. Through the study entitled �Countermeasures of the Auto Industry in Transition� the Korean trade unions tried to find answers for the following questions: Where is the Korean auto industry going? What kind of measures do labor unions need to take? This is an translated version of the study abstract which was published in January 2021. Within the project �Issue Paper Series � Labour and Society�, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Korea Office has invited national experts to analyse the current trend of socio-economic issues in South Korea and to develop future scenarios for �socio-economic justice transition�.
