Zusammenfassung
On 16 June 2011, the Human Rights Council endorsed the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs), as the first set of authoritative global standards to monitor and govern human violations within the business environment. Following that, UN member states and several regional organizations, including the African Union have endorsed the resolution. To further domesticate and adapt the UNGPs to African realities, the African Union drafted a Policy Framework on Business and Human Rights in Africa. This Study examines the extent of adaptation and implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) in Africa and it is regarded as a baseline study as it reviews the dynamics and the state of business and human rights in the continent.
