Abstract
The informal economy offers opportunities for self-employment, livelihoods and income generation, especially for women, the young, and the vulnerable. Its workers, however, lack social protection and social security services. This study examines current social protection mechanisms to the Zambian informal economy and proposes effective policy interventions like the establishment of a hybrid mutual fund.
