Abstract
The "policy matters" opinion research institute surveyed citizens in eight EU Member Countries (Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden, Slovakia, Spain and the Czech Republic) in May/June 2017 upon the commission of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung. The result: The United Kingdom's decision to leave the EU has helped strengthen cohesion in the EU. Moreover, willingness has grown in all the countries surveyed to shift responsibility in important areas of policy from the national to the European level. But the results of the study also illustrate the constraints and limits to the desire for more cooperation
