Abstract
With the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG), Germany is making an important and particularly ambitious contribution to human rights and environmental protection as well as to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. The brief analysis discusses how the law requires large companies to perform due diligence measures at the beginning of 2023 in order to prevent or mitigate human rights and environmental violations in their global value chains. The analysis shows how the effective enforcement of the LkSG is ensured by considerable official competences.
