Zusammenfassung

Republicanism - unlike „a-political“ liberalism - demands an activist promotion of social inclusion, a „politics of will“. But in order to avoid both the ultimate arbitrariness of an illusory sovereign will and the procedural sterility of a purely rights-based politics, a „politics of judgement“ is called for, which admits an open-ended development of the democratic state.
