ABOUT THE AUTHORS AMY C. ALEXANDER Amy C. Alexander is a professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Gothenburg. Her research focuses on the sources of gender equality and its effects on social values, democratisation, governance and political representation around the globe. She has published on this in several peer-reviewed journals, such as Political Research Quarterly, Electoral Studies, International Organization, and the European Journal of Political Research. ELENA AVRAMOVSKA Elena is a researcher and practitioner specialising in democracy and its various dimensions and currently serves as a senior researcher at the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung’s“Democracy of the Future” initiative. She holds an Erasmus Mundus PhD in political science from the Université libre de Bruxelles and the University of Geneva and was a visiting researcher at the University of Oxford during her doctoral studies. Her work has been supported by the European Commission, the Swiss National Research Foundation and the Open Society Foundations. She has previously worked with several international organisations.
