Ratherthanaimingforabsolutelycoincidentpositions , effortsshouldgo intoopeninguproomforgradualconvergence.Someforums , whilenotstrictly trilateral , mayhelpingeneratingtheinstitutionalbackdropforcommonaction andcloserties.ThisisthecasewithregardtotheForumforEastAsianand LatinAmericanCooperation ( FEALAC ) .Similarly , theRioGroupboastsan institutionaliseddialoguewithbothChinaandtheEU , providingausefulstaging groundforthreewayexchanges.Equally , IBSA , bringingtogetherIndia , Brazil andSouthAfrica , isanexampleofhowtofostertrilateralactivities , giventhe sponsorshipofpovertyalleviationmeasuresincountriesinAfrica , LatinAmerica andSouthEastAsia.
