The Human Security Index of Selected Countries 11.3 Country Rankings The country rankings in the four dimensions of the Human Security Index are presented in Table 11.2. The first indications are that Pakistan is likely to do better in the HSI. In summary, the ranking of Pakistan among the 12 countries is as follows: Index Freedom from‘Fear’ Freedom from‘Want’ Freedom from‘Inequality’ Governance Overall HSI HDI *Among the 12 selected countries Pakistan’s Ranking* 4 10 8 11 9 11 Pakistan performs exceptionally well in the index of Freedom from‘Fear’ with a high ranking of 4 th . Overall, Pakistan is ranked 9 th in the HSI among the twelve countries. This represents an improvement of two places in relation to the HDI. The two countries which fall behind Pakistan in the HSI are Bangladesh and Nepal.
