The rapidly evolving global landscape is creating new opportunities for strengthening EU-India bilateral relations. Both regions are navigating significant challenges and transitions, including technological innovation, climate change, economic shifts, and a transforming global security dynamic. India has emerged as an influential global actor, propelled by robust economic growth and a burgeoning young population, while Europe faces both internal challenges and external pressures. Against this backdrop, India and the EU have drawn closer in recent years, driven by a shared commitment to a multipolar world, sustained economic growth, and enhanced stability and influence. This paper, authored by one of India’s foremost foreign policy experts, C. Raja Mohan, examines key trajectories in India’s foreign policy over the past decade (2014–2024) and assesses their implications for India-Europe relations. It provides recommendations for European and German policymakers, highlighting strategies to navigate today’s evolving dynamics, address shared challenges, and capitalize on mutual opportunities for growth and global influence.
