Abstract
This policy brief synthesizes research findings and policy recommendations on gender inclusive intraparty candidate nominations in Tanzania. The brief compiles recommendations calling on political parties, the government and other relevant stakeholders to come up with strategies to achieve gender equality and diversity in political processes in Tanzania. Recommendations include, among other things, the need to: review and reform national laws governing political parties; review and reform the electoral system; redesign electoral constituencies; adopt quotas; and revise political parties selection procedures. Political context, distribution of power and interest will ultimately condition the effectiveness of the above.
