Zusammenfassung
This book builds on a series of expert discussions and can be viewed as three concentric circles. Based on an analysis of these three concentric circles the authors stimulate the necessary rethinking of South Africa's foreign policy. It requires acknowledging that as a country, South Africa is currently facing serious problems on its own. The constitutional and democratic promise of a better life for all South African has been fatally undermined as a result of bad governance and the scourge of state capture, as Garth Le Pere states in his introduction. As a result, South Africa has lost political, diplomatic, and normative credibility on the continent. On the one hand, the book re-engages with the normative agenda that shapes South Africa's relationship on the continent, and it explains how it works in concert with the broad African architecture of governance, peace, and security within a changing global context.
