With over 5 million foreign residents, Italy continues to be one of the primary countries of immigration in the European Union. Yet, contrary to popular Italian belief, the numbers of foreigners regularly living in Italy have been stable at around five million since 2013.
Every year, the Rome based research institute “Centro Studi e Ricerche” (IDOS) publishes one of the most comprehensive reports on Italy's immigration situation. As the previous reports were only available in Italian language, we are glad to share the first English summary of the edition from 2018.
