Zusammenfassung
The report is issued to analyze and assess the right of free association of workers in Jordan through a social, economic, political and legal reading of the reality of this basic right; The report has been prepared through conducting a reading of social and economic contexts in Jordan, the report reviews the related labor legislations in light of current transformations in the Jordanian and regional political scene in addition to the relevant international conventions related to the right of association. The report indicates that the labor movements are resulted by cruel economic policies implemented in Jordan, lack of elevation of labor legislations in line with the demanding requirements of labor, disregarding the obligations of Jordan as implied in international treaties related to the freedom of association. the report also points to the deep rotted complications of the existing trade unions, which in away dont represent the workers anymore as it has lost its important role in defending the workers and joined the government rows accordingly it lost the faith of workers in these entities. This fact was the main reason behind the creation of independent trade union movements; the latter gained its momentum by the large acceptance of workers. As a consequence, they drafted their own law to achieve their interests and to set up effective trade unions on democratic basis. The report comes as part of a series of reports issued by the Jordanian Labor Watch Project
