To better understand the situation of youth in the MENA region, the FES conducted a large representative survey among young people in eight countries in 2016. This study presents selected results of the survey in Yemen. The Yemeni state is weak, and the country's youth are therefore highly dependent on their families. There is war and the economic situation, the security situation, and the lack of health care fuel the fear of poverty. Driven by the desire to support their families financially, young Yemenis set out to find educational and employment opportunities. Yemeni youth are interested in politics, but their trust in official politics and especially in political parties is low. Nevertheless, most young people would like the state to play a greater role in their daily lives.
