Persistence of the crisis in the Central African Republic (CAR): understanding in order to act, eminent security researchers identify the types of crises, the actors and their contribution to the recurrent cycles of violence. They describe the CAR as a failed and very fragile state because access to power has been through coup détats (5 since 1965) mutinies, rebellions, limited democracy and the absence of the rule of law. Persistent crises have earned the CAR the nickname land of peace keepers because she has had 13 peace keeping missions since 1979. Yet the CAR remains a theatre of conflicts that are fueled by the economic, geopolitical or geostrategic interests of internal actors, foreign countries and international organizations.
