Zusammenfassung
The right-wing populist party AfD has been successful in state and federal elections in Germany. Social and economic factors alone cannot explain right wing populist voting. This group of voters is more diverse than assumed. Individual reasons to vote right wing populist parties are influenced by cultural backgrounds, demographics and other issues in their local community. Further, vote choice is also a result of individual political beliefs as well as the evaluation of the state governments performance.
