With the creation of the Single Digital Market, the EU Commission is embarking on a great journey. One focus is the funding of Industry 4.0. The present study examines the Industry 4.0 strategies of the EU as well as individual member states. The result: besides stronger coordination of the programmes and improved integration of individual strategies, the authors recommend an expansion of the focus to include not just technology but also social innovations, so that all can benefit from digital prosperity.
