Medienquerschnitt........................................................................................................................................................... 6 1. 25 Jahre Osloer Prinzipienerklärung 25 Jahre nach Unterzeichnung der Osloer Prinzi­pienerklärung ziehen Befürworter und Gegner Bilanz des Friedensprozesses zwischen Israel und der Palästinensischen Befreiungsorganisation(PLO). Der damalige Palästinenserchef Yassir Arafat, Isra­els früherer Ministerpräsident Yitzhak Rabin und Ex­Außenminister Shimon Peres wurden 1994 mit dem Friedensnobelpreis ausgezeichnet. Doch schon bald machten Terror und Enttäuschung der anfänglichen Euphorie Platz. Rabin bezahlte mit seinem Leben, als ein jüdischer Extremist auf ihn schoss, um weite­re territoriale Zugeständnisse Israels an die Palästi­nenser zu verhindern. Nach dem Scheitern der Verhandlungen im Sommer 2000 und dem Beginn der zweiten Intifada schien der Prozess am Ende zu sein. Im Alleingang zog ausgerechnet der israeli­sche Hardliner Ariel Sharon fünf Jahre später die Israelis aus dem Gazastreifen ab, was die islamisti­sche Hamas als ihre Errungenschaft propagandis­tisch verbuchte und bei den palästinensischen Wah­len kurze Zeit später gewinnen ließ. Der Gazastrei­fen wurde zu einer gegen Israel gerichteten Rake­tenabschussbasis. Für viele Israelis schien damit bewiesen, dass sich territoriale Zugeständnisse mit den Palästinensern nicht lohnten. Bei den Palästi­nensern führte der Machtkampf zwischen der Ha­mas und der Fatah dazu, dass das Westjordanland und der Gazastreifen zwei rivalisierende Regierun­gen haben. Eine friedliche Lösung des israelisch­palästinensischen Konflikts scheint in Weite Ferne gerückt zu sein. Now, and just for the sake of professionalism, consider airing statements like those of Haggai Segal(today the editor of Makor Rishon) on Arutz Sheva, the only media outlet that came out against Oslo:“Dear listeners, keep your newspapers from this week. Keep the red and blue headlines that announce the coming of the messiah, (…) the tears of Yoram Kaniuk and the self­congratulations of Uri Avnery... If you throw them in the garbage can, your grandchildren will not believe a word you say about everything that was written and said on the occasion of that insane event taking place tomorrow in Washington. They will not be able to believe that such intelligent people, so experi­enced, were willing to do business with a creature 1
