Influences on Albania’s Security Given that global security is defined by nations’ relations in the international security system, interviewees were asked which country they considered to be the friendliest to Albania, about the role that NATO and the EU play in the country’s security, and about the influence of individual countries on Albania’s security. Friendliest Countries Citizens were asked via three different questions to identify, among nine options, which country they identified as being the friendliest, the second friendliest and the third friendliest to Albania. Similar to the 2019 barometer, the USA, Germany, and Italy were identified as the three friendliest countries by most respondents. The USA is perceived as the friendliest country by about 4 percentage points more than in the 2019 barometer, while Germany is regarded as friendliest by 9.1 percentage points fewer respondents. Turkey was identified as the friendliest to Albania by an increase of 6.8 percentage points over the previous year(an increase of approximately 125%).
