Sometimes it is quite surprising how years fly by! Just the other day, it was January 2006, today as I write this, the year is coming to an end and by the time you read this article, it may be already January 2007. Over the last year very many things have happened and we at the FES and YLTP are grateful to have been part and witness of these changes. The YLTP which started in early January came to a successful completion with a colorful graduation ceremony in December 2006. It was a moment of happiness and joy as yet another crop of 21 young leaders stepped forward to receive their certificates and gifts for academic excellence and exemplary behaviour. I am confident that they will apply what they learnt to the good of their organization, society and this Country. On the other side, the former graduates of the YLTP continued making their presence felt. They took leadership positions by storm and left us feeling proud. If you might recall during the general election in the year 2005, the star of the YLTP graduates started to shine at the national level when Hon Zitto Kabwe was elected as the Member of the Parliament for Kigoma North. Yet again in August 2006, Ms. Halima Dendego Omari and Mr. Beno Malisa who are both graduates of the YLTP were appointed to the position of District Commissioner for Mpwapwa and the Principal Assistant Secretary/ Administration-CCM Youth Wing(National Level) respectively. For us at the FES, these two were yet another bundle of joy and source of inspiration. They demonstrated that nothing is impossible and confirmed our feelings as to why the YLTP is a passionate project that we are proud to support. We wish them all the best in their new appointments.
